About Us

For over a decade, we've helped people just like you find their strength, overcome pain, and change their patterns inside and out. Our experienced instructors, each with their own unique gifts, will help you get the most out of your body and your life.

Our beautiful, bright and airy Pilates studio is nestled on the quiet side of the Palos Verdes Shopping Center at the northern border of Walnut Creek, just where it meets Lafayette and Pleasant Hill. Freshly remodeled in the spring of 2021, our group room spaciously accommodates up to 9 Pilates Reformer students at a time on Allegro 2 Reformers and up to 8 students per Pilates Chair class.

Our two comfortable private rooms feature Clinical Reformers, Combo and EXO® Chairs, a Trapeze Table (Cadillac), CoreAlign®, Ladder Barrel, Bodhi Suspension System® and more. Check out our videos to learn how each piece of equipment works and meet some of our stellar instructors. Whether you prefer the focused attention of one to one private sessions or prefer to work out with a good friend or partner in duet sessions, you'll find our private rooms extremely well-equipped.

Meet the Owners

Every single aspect of Pike & Plank's studio design was carefully planned and curated by its founders, Eric & Kelly Black. Sparkling clean and gorgeous, our studio greets you with fresh green plants, peaceful Buddhas, cool, purified air, and always, smiling faces. This studio will make you feel so at home, you won't want to leave!

Just down the way at the opposite end of Palos Verdes Mall is Indigo Yoga Studio, our stunningly beautiful flagship yoga location.

Eric and Kelly are both long-time Bay Area teachers of Pilates and Yoga. They worked in a variety of gyms and private studios before opening their own in 2011. What began as a “place to keep our reformer” gradually grew into two full studios, each devoted to different aspects of their vision.

Within days of the pandemic, they pivoted to online and outdoor classes, navigating weather, location changes, and shifting mandates. It was hard work but also rewarding, as they knew that this community was worth saving. They wouldn’t have made it without an amazing team of teachers and behind-the-scenes heroes, and a big heap of help from the universe. Eric and Kelly know in their hearts that Indigo and Pike & Plank were and are meant to be.

Is Pilates Right for You?

Pilates can benefit anyone from the top athlete looking to perfect their sport, to the self-confessed couch potato who's barely exercised a day in their life. While Pilates is not a substitute for physical therapy, students commonly report their chronic aches and pains diminishing or even vanishing after regular practice.

Pike & Plank welcomes prehab and posthab as well as prenatal and postnatal students. In fact, Pilates is so adaptable, just about anyone can learn it. We take pride in finding ways to help Pilates work for you.
